I am trying to customize word 365 for Mac and have been mostly successful at getting the ribbon the way I want it. One thing I have failed to do is to add custom margin settings, that is 'top, bottom, right, left' back to the layout ribbon, as it was in Word 2011. I realize I can open the custom margins dialog box from the bottom of the 'Margins' drop-down. However, this is not only an extra step, but from the dialog box one cannot see the results until clicking 'okay.'
Luckily, Microsoft Word makes this easy, so today we’re looking at how to set the page layout and margins in a document. Setting the Margins. We’ll start with setting the page margins. To do this, go to the ‘Page Setup’ section of the ‘Layout’ tab on the main ribbon. Under ‘Margins.
Margin settings from the ribbon in previous versions show the results in real time, and I have often used them to tweak a document in order to get text to fit on a single page, etc. Has anyone figured out how to return this very important function well he to the ribbon? In Windows there is a small page representation that gives a rough idea when you move from one margin in the dialog to another. The page, itself, is nut adjusted until you close the dialog.
In the Rulers, it is possible to move the margins. In Windows, you can move the right margin by simply selecting above the indent marker when you try to move the margin. On the left, the first-line indent on top gets in the way and has to be moved first. Sorry I was not able to be of more help. You can make a suggestion at User Voice.

You can use Word's convenient Set as Default feature to save all of the formatting changes you've made and automatically apply them to new documents. To learn how to do this, read our article on. Change the page orientation to Portrait.

Change the page size to Legal. If Legal size is not available, you can choose another size such as A5. Change the margins to the Narrow setting. When you're finished, your document should be one page if using Legal size.
It should look something like this.
